If the breaker for the Sinop\u00e9 thermostat and its heater has tripped, the thermostat has no power and its screen goes completely blank. First make sure that breaker is switched on.  <\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Why does a blocked heating device make my Sinop\u00e9 thermostat blink or go blank?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When a heating device overheats, its thermal protection trips and cuts power to the device and the Sinop\u00e9 thermostat to prevent a fire risk. The thermostat screen then blinks or goes blank. This protection is triggered when :  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the heating device overheats;<\/li>\n<li>an object blocks the airflow (curtain, furniture, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>the heater does not release heat properly, for example a baseboard not flush against the wall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clear the area around the heater and check that it is installed correctly.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Is my heating system powerful enough for the room?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If the heating device is not powerful enough for the room size or the outdoor temperature, it can run constantly without reaching the Sinop\u00e9 thermostat\u2019s setpoint. It may then overheat and trip its thermal protection, which also shuts off the thermostat. <\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">How can I tell whether the problem is the Sinop\u00e9 thermostat or the installation?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Temporarily swap the Sinop\u00e9 thermostat with another thermostat that works. If the problem continues after the swap, the cause is probably the heating system or the wiring.
