How do I adjust the temperature of my hot water tank?

To adjust your tank temperature, turn off the power, remove the covers and insulation from both thermostats, and then adjust them with a screwdriver. The top thermostat should be slightly warmer. Replace the components. The Calypso controller does not allow this adjustment. See the video for details.

Follow the steps below to safely adjust your tank temperature:

  1. Turn off the power supply to the water heater.
  2. Remove the thermostat covers from the tank:
    1. Unscrew the lids
    2. Remove the lids
    3. Remove the insulating part.


Note: Most tanks have two thermostats : one at the top and one at the bottom.

  1. Adjust the tank temperature:
    1. Use a flathead screwdriver
    2. Set each thermostat to the desired temperature.


Note: The top thermostat should be set slightly higher than the bottom one.

  1. Replace the components:
    1. the insulating part
    2. the lids

Important: The Calypso water heater controller does not allow you to adjust the temperature of your tank.
