Is it worthwhile to turn off the water heater at night?

It’s possible to turn off the water heater at night for small savings, but these are minimal because the water needs to be reheated in the morning. However, turning it off during extended absences is advantageous. The best strategy is to shift consumption outside of peak hours using the Calypso controller and the Sinopé Neviweb app, thus maximizing savings effortlessly and without sacrificing comfort.

It is possible to achieve slight savings by turning off your water heater at night. However, these savings are minimal : almost all of the energy saved will need to be used in the morning to bring the water back up to a safe temperature. This is why we do not recommend turning off your appliance for short periods.

On the other hand, if you are going on holiday for several days or if the water heater is located in a secondary residence, it becomes advantageous to turn it off during your absences, because in these contexts of prolonged absence, energy savings become significant.

Rather than trying to reduce your absolute consumption, the most effective strategy for lowering your bill is to shift your consumption away from peak periods using the time-of-use programs offered by different electricity providers. The goal isn’t to consume less electricity, but to consume it at the most advantageous time, when rates are lower. Thanks to the Calypso controller and the Eco Sinopé feature available in the Sinopé Neviweb app, your water heater can automatically align with peak-time management programs. This allows you to maximize your savings without any manual effort and without compromising your comfort.
