Why use lithium batteries in my
Water leak detector?
When purchased, the Sinopé water leak detector comes with a pair of lithium batteries for installation. These batteries are more resistant to extreme temperatures, deliver more power, and have a longer lifespan than alkaline batteries.
Therefore, if you currently have alkaline batteries in your detectors, we recommend replacing them with lithium batteries. You won’t have to change them as often since they last almost twice as long as alkaline batteries (see the table below).
The battery life of the detector depends on the type of batteries used and the device to which it is connected:
| Device | Battery type | Battery life* (normal use) |
| Sedna 2nd generation valve (VA4220WF/VA4221WF) | Lithium | 10 years |
| Alkaline | 5 years | |
| First generation Sedna valve (VA4200WZ/VA4201WZ) | Lithium | 8 years |
| Alkaline | 4 years | |
| GT130 gateway or other Zigbee | Lithium | gateways, 4 years |
| Alkaline | 2 years |
*Battery life is calculated under optimal usage conditions and may vary slightly.
