How can I test my water leak detector?

To test your detector, pour about a teaspoon of water onto its electrodes. The audible alarm should sound and a notification should be sent to your mobile device. Then, wipe the electrodes with a dry cloth to stop the alarm.

You can check that your detector is working correctly by performing the following test:

  1. Pour a small amount of water (about 1 tsp) onto the detector electrodes.
  2. Check that:
    • an audible alarm is triggered;
    • a notification (email or push) is sent to your mobile device (depending on the settings enabled for the device).

Once the test is complete, wipe the electrodes with a dry cloth to stop the alarm.
