What happens to the smart water valve in the event of a power outage?
The VA4220WF/VA4221WF valves operate with 4 lithium AAA batteries or ACUPS-01, allowing normal function and water shutoff during leaks. Battery life is up to 24 hours, extended to 48 hours with both power sources. With only batteries, communication via Neviweb or SSS is lost during outages; with ACUPS, Wi-Fi connection persists unless the router/modem loses power. Low batteries can trigger automatic water shutoff if enabled in settings. Models include VA4220WF, VA4221WF, and their -M versions.
The behavior of the valve depends on the model and the presence of a backup power supply.
VA4220WF / VA4221WF valve (2nd generation)
If you use:
- 4 AAA lithium batteries, OR
- an uninterruptible power supply system (ACUPS-01)
The valve continues to function normally and can shut off the water in case of a leak.
Operating time: Up to 24 hours
If you use:
- AAA lithium batteries AND ACUPS-01
The valve continues to function normally and can shut off the water in case of a leak.
Operating time: Up to 48 hours
Important:
- With AAA batteries: during a power failure, it is impossible to communicate with the valve via the Neviweb app or the SSS platform. The valve no longer transmits its status or alerts to the server.
- With ACUPS: During a power outage, the valve continues to establish a Wi-Fi connection to transmit its status, alerts, etc., to the server. However, if the router and internet modem are not powered during the outage, communication is lost with our servers, the Neviweb app, and the SSS platform.

Low battery If the batteries run out, the valve can automatically close the water inlet preventively before switching off if the function has been previously activated in the valve settings in the Sinopé Neviweb app. |
